Squeezed picture on tv set?

i have a advent tv i bought in 03 it worked perfectly fine until yesterday. i was messing around with my universal remote, i saw the remote had a picture in picture on and when i pressed the on it changed the settings to what i think may be Chinese and also the image is all squeezed and out of color.btw the tv does not have the pip function.
